One of the ways to reach a wider audience is to create content in a language your target audience understands. This can be challenging, especially for people who only speak one language. Fortunately, AI companies like HeyGen have introduced new advancements such as the ability to automatically translate a video from one language to another. The best thing about this is it looks real because the lips of the person talking move in perfect sync with the translated audio.
In this blog post, learn how to translate YouTube Videos with AI. Moreover, I’ll show you how to automatically put captions to your translated video using Premiere Pro.
Introducing HeyGen
HeyGen is a content creation platform that focuses on using AI to create video and audio content. It has introduced a lot of features since it was founded such as AI Avatars, AI Voices, and Video Translation.
How To Use HeyGen AI Video Translator
The AI video translator feature of HeyGen is straightforward to use. First, you’ll need to create an account. If you want to test it out, use my link to have a free 1-minute trial. After that, log in and you’ll be directed to your dashboard.
The next step will require you to either upload the video you want to translate or input the URL if it’s on YouTube or Google Drive. The video should meet certain requirements for the best result.
Such requirements are below:
- Try to avoid background music and noise, as they can degrade the quality of output audio.
- Try to avoid multiple people.
- Resolution must be between 360×360 and 4096×4096.
- Duration must be between 1s and 5min.
After that, select the target language you want it to be translated to. As of this writing, HeyGen supports 30 languages such as Hindi, French, and Mandarin.
Finally, select the number of speakers. After that, click the Translate this Video button.
Once HeyGen finished translating the video, you can either download it to your computer or share it to your social media accounts.
HeyGen Pricing Explained
One important thing you should know is how the pricing works on HeyGen. The platform offers a few plans for using its AI video translator. You can pay a minimum of $29 up to $179 per month and these will give you 15 and 90 credits, respectively.
Each credit is equal to 1-minute video. That means that you can translate up to 15 minutes of video per month on their lowest plan.
If you want to save a few bucks, you can subscribe to their yearly plan, which gives you a 20% discount. Moreover, if you are a large business and you want a customized plan, you can contact HeyGen for better deals.

How To Caption Your Videos with Premiere Pro
Now that you learned how to translate your videos from one language to another using HeyGen, you might be wondering how you can add subtitles to the translated video considering that you don’t speak that language. Well, lucky you. I’ll teach you how to do it using Premiere Pro.
First, open Premiere Pro and then add your video to your timeline. Then change your workspace into Captions and Graphics. On the left side, you’ll see automatically transcribed texts. The text might not make sense and there’s a simple solution to that. Just click the Ellipsis icon on the right side of the transcript and then choose Re-transcribe Clip.
Then choose the language you translated your video to and press Transcribe.
Finally, make some changes to your captions to make them readable on the video. If you want a video version of this blog post, watch it on YouTube.
