Programmable Control Keys
Mackie Mainstream comes with 6 control keys. These keys can be mapped to the function keys of your computer, allowing you to do certain actions with a click of a button.
Simple Interface
Mackie Mainstream’s front interface is simple yet powerful. It comes with two big dials that let you control your microphones and headphones. A meter is found at the center that shows the volume level. In addition, a few smaller dials are also available that you can use to control other connected gadgets. Furthermore, the console has a few buttons that you can use to mute connected speakers or microphones.
Not Power-Hungry
Another good thing about this livestreaming equipment is that it doesn’t need to be connected to an AC power source. You can turn it on just by connecting it to your laptop, which allows you to livestream with minimal set-up or in-room needs.
Set Up Guide For Mackie Mainstream
Power the Device
Mackie Mainstream is easy to set up. First, you need to power it on by plugging in your laptop or a power device using a USB-C cable.
Connect Gadgets
Next is to connect your livestreaming devices such as microphones, headphones, webcams, gaming consoles, and laptops to the device. You can connect as many devices as you want as long as they are supported by the port types Mackie has.
Customize Hotkeys and Functions
After you connect all your livestreaming devices to Mackie Mainstream, it’s time to make sure that they are working fine. To do this, you need to set these up on your Livestreaming Software. In my case, I am using OBS Studio so what I did was simply add scenes and select the right devices connected to Mackie.
And then once everything is set up, I highly suggest you customize your hotkeys. Since the 6 control keys on the Mackie Mainstream are mapped to the first 6 function keys on your computer, it’s best to assign specific actions to those keys. For example, if you assign the action “switch to scene” to F1, clicking the first control key will automatically switch the scene on your livestream.
Install Mackie Matrix Software
The Mackie Matrix Software is designed to work seamlessly with Mainstream. This is of course, optional, but if you want more powerful functionality like adding virtual inputs and vocal effects, you should download it.
