Best Ai Music Generators In 2024

AI music generators have been making a significant impact on the music industry. These tools have become so powerful that even seasoned artists can use them. In this blog post, I review the best AI music generators in 2024 that are free to use with available paid plans. To help you decide which one is best for your needs, I check each tool’s audio quality, licensing terms, and overall capabilities.

AI Tool #1: Udio

Udio is currently one of the top AI music generators in the market. This tool allows users to create music from simple text prompts by specifying topics, genres, and other descriptors which are then transformed into professional-quality tracks.

Pricing

Udio offers a free plan with a limited daily quota and basic features. This plan comes with 10 credits/day with an additional 100 extra credits/month. Each credit corresponds to a 1-30-second audio track. Note that each generation currently generates 2 tracks, so each generation (including remixes/extensions) costs 2 credits.

If you want more credits, no daily limit, and advanced features, you’ll need to subscribe to their paid plans that start at $30/month.

Audio Quality

I used Adobe Audition to analyze one of the music created using Udio. The music has a sample rate of 48000 Hz, 32-bit depth, 320 kbps source format, and a Stereo channel. In addition, the EQ is cutting off at 20KHz, which is a full range for a music track. Overall, with these audio test results, I can say that Udio is on top in terms of audio quality.

Licensing Terms

Udio allows users to use the music they create using the software for personal and commercial purposes. This is good news for everyone who plans to monetize their projects. There is a need though to attribute Udio when publishing the content you create. Make sure to read the entire terms and conditions for more details about Udio’s licensing terms.

Overall, Udio is a powerful AI tool to generate lyrical and instrumental music. One of its capabilities worth mentioning is that it allows users to extend their generated audio. Moreover, its free plan is limited but still is usable to create a few projects. Finally, the audio quality of the generated music is one of the best you can get from any AI tool.

AI Tool #2: Suno

Suno is I think the King of AI music generators before Udio was introduced. I’ve talked about this tool before and yes, I love using this AI. Suno allows you to generate music (either instrumental or with lyrics) by entering a text prompt. It also has a custom mode that enables you to have more control of the creation process by adding lyrics and music style.

Pricing

A free plan is available in Suno. Just like Udio, it comes with limited functionality. Currently, the free plan offers 50 daily credits, which is equivalent to 10 songs.

Paid plans are available that start at $8/month (yearly billing). The paid plans allow users to generate more songs, monetize their works, and be prioritized in the generation queue.

Audio Quality

I analyzed on song I generated using Suno and the results are somewhat similar to Udio. The music has a sample rate of 48000 Hz, 32-bit depth, 192 kbps source format, and a Stereo channel. Also, the EQ is cutting off at 20KHz, which again, is the full range of sounds that is perceivable by the human ear.

I can say that the audio quality of the song created using Suno is slightly reduced compared to that of Udio. But it still is a fantastic AI music generator.

Licensing Terms

Suno is specific when it comes to its licensing terms. The AI music generator limits free users to only use the tool for personal use. In addition, free users are required to attribute the company when posting their works on social media.

Paid plan subscribers, however, can use their songs for commercial use and attribution is not required (but is appreciated). This means that you can only monetize the music you generate when you subscribe to their paid plans.

Overall, Suno is still one of the best tools in terms of creating high-quality music with AI. The ability to have more control of the music creation process with its custom mode is one of the highlights of using this tool. In addition, it offers a free plan that is perfect for casual users who do not need commercial licensing.

NOTE: The first two AI tools we reviewed can be used for both lyrical and instrumental music generation. However, the next two tools are somewhat limited to generating background music. (*Soundraw’s higher plan offers adding vocals)

AI Tool #3: Mubert

Mubert is a great tool for generating royalty-free music with AI. To create a track you need to do three things. First, you’ll need to either enter a text prompt or upload an image. Then you need to specify the type of music you are generating (track, loop, mix, or jingle). And finally, you’ll need to set the duration.

A feature currently beta is available in Mubert that allows you to use a YouTube video as a reference. What it does is that the algorithm analyzes the song and finds the best match among the system’s regenerated database of tracks. This is very useful for users who already have a sample they want to emulate.

Pricing

Mubert offers a few plans for users to use the platform. It starts with a free plan that comes with a 25-track monthly limit. Paid plans are available for more benefits such as being able to monetize, no need for attribution, and no watermark.

Audio Quality

When it comes to quality, the tracks created with Mubert are a bit lower compared to the first two AI tools. The sample rate is 44100 Hz, 32-bit depth, 128 kbps source format, and a Stereo channel. The EQ is also lower which cuts at around 17-18KHz.

Licensing Terms

Unfortunately, Mubert does not provide licensing options at the time of this writing. This means that you cannot distribute the generated music via Music Streaming Services such as Spotify. However, you can monetize tracks by adding them as background music on your YouTube videos, indie games, etc (a paid plan is required).

Overall, Mubert is a great tool for generating background music tracks. The process of creating one is straightforward. The quality of the tracks might be lower compared to other tools but is not a big deal, especially when the tracks are used as background music.

AI Tool #4: Soundraw

Soundraw is the last on our list of the best AI music generators in 2024. It has a very easy-to-use music generation process. You’ll just have to set the duration, choose the tempo, and select the genre of the music you want to create.

The best thing about this tool is that you can modify the generated track with its built-in mixer feature. This feature allows you to change the melody, instruments, length, BPM, and other properties of the track.

Pricing

Soundraw does not have a free plan, unfortunately, but the paid plans are quite reasonable considering what they are offering. They do offer a trial for each plan for users to experience what the AI tool can offer.

Audio Quality

In terms of audio quality, Soundraw is pretty similar to Udio. The track generated has a sample rate of 48000 Hz, 32-bit depth, 320 kbps source format, and a Stereo channel. It also has a full range of EQ, which cuts to 20KHz.

Licensing Terms

Soundraw is one of the most generous in terms of its licensing offers. For the creator plan, users can enjoy a lifelong royalty-free license. For their artist plans, subscribers can distribute their works on streaming platforms and they can keep the recording royalties.

Overall, I think Soundraw is the best for creators who want to make a business out of creating AI-generated music. With generous licensing terms, you can ensure that you won’t deal with copyright strikes and that you can keep 100% of your project royalties.

Best of AI

AI music generators have been increasing in number over the years. However, when it comes to quality, the 4 tools mentioned in this blog post are on top of the list. Udio and Suno are worth checking when creating both lyrical and instrumental tracks. On the other hand, Mubert and Soundraw are two of the best when generating background music. One next step to take your AI creations to the next level is amazing AI voices. Here at Music Radio Creative we have taken AI generated voices to the next level. Curious? Check it out here!
