Best Davinci Resolve 19 Audio Features

Davinci Resolve 19

DaVinci Resolve 19 has been introduced this year. This new version brings with it a LOT of exciting new improvements. In this blog post, I’ll discuss two new features that DaVinci has. These two audio features are not currently available in Adobe so I think they are worth discussing.

Feature #1: Dialogue Separator

The Dialogue Separator is a new addition to the DaVinci Resolve ecosystem that can make audio editing so much easier. This feature allows editors to have control over the level of dialogue, background sounds, and the “ambience” of the recording.

This tool can be accessed under DaVinci’s Audio tab. There are 3 sliders that allow you to rebalance the voice, background, and ambience of your audio recording. A mute button is also available to silence each of the 3 elements easily.

There are a lot of instances where the Dialogue Separator feature can be useful. For example, if you have a recording that contains a roomy sound with a lot of noise in the background, you can rebalance it so that the background sounds can be muted or reduce the room sound for better intelligibility.

Overall, Dialogue Separator is an amazing tool to improve the quality of a recording by rebalancing the voice, background, and ambience.

NOTE: Dialogue Separator is presently mono only, so if your source is stereo, you’d have split into dual-mono and process two mono tracks separately.

Feature #2: Music Remixer

The second feature DaVinci Resolve 19 introduced is Music Remixer. This TrackFX plugin uses AI to split audio into individual basic stems: Vocals, Drums, Bass, Guitar, and Other. It can be accessed in the Audio section of DaVinci.

Like Dialogue Separator, Music Remixer also has sliders for each stem that enable users to rebalance or remix the sources. Mute buttons are also available to bring each stem in and out of your recording instantly.

This new feature can be very useful when you are working with a song. With this, you can easily remove the sound of any instruments for an acapella version or create a karaoke version by muting the voice.

NOTE: Music Remixer is only available on the paid version of the software.

Final Thoughts

DaVinci Resolve has always been a powerful editing software. But with the new features, improvements, and updates on its latest version, it has become more compelling for content creators.

Dialogue Separator and Music Remixer are two of the latest additions to the software that are worth checking. If you want to make your audio editing process easier, you should consider using DaVinci Resolve 19.
